Outside temp display.....

I was out in my X type the other day and on the display came up ext and a tempriture that just climbed and claimed then went off again. It hasn't been on before and not since in fact I didn't know it had it!
It has climate control that at the moment isn't cold but I put this down to needing re filling.

Has anyone else had the same issue? If so what was the repair...........
