Replacing Rear Hub On 2.2d

Hi everyone,
My X-Type 2.2d Sport Premium Estate passed it's MOT but picked up a couple of advisories along the way.
One of which was the following:
Offside Rear Wheel bearing has slight play.
Offside Rear Wheel bearing slightly noisy.
As usual I did a little research before I tackled the job.
The main concern seemed to be the four Torx (T55) headed bolts securing the hub to the wheel knuckle,they could be siezed!
I only have a drive way to work on my cars and that is on a slope but I have made a pair of ramps and once the car is on them it becomes level and is quite easy to get underneath and work on.

Road wheel off,then the brake caliper,mounting bracket and then the brake disc,all came off without any problems.
There is no rear drive shaft on my model which makes it a bit easier to do.
I went underneath the car to unclip the ABS sensor from the rear of the hub and noticed there is quite good access to the protruding bolts through the rear of the wheel knuckle.

So a good squirt of release agent and a bit of time spent with a small wire brush on the threads.
I also used a impact driver with the T55 bit in it and gave them a couple of quite hefty blows with a hammer before attemping to undo them.
This ensures the T55 bit is seated nicely in the bolt,all this must of paid off,they all came out without a hitch thankfully and those threads were quite rusty.

Hub Removed

A couple of taps with a hammer and the old hub came away.I cleaned up the mating surface and then installed the new rear hub putting copper grease on the new bolt threads.The correct torque for the bolts is 63Nm.
Reinstalled all of the brake parts in the reverse order of dissasembly ,not forgetting to plug in the ABS sensor.
Last job was to put the road wheel back on.
The correct torque for the wheels is:
103 Nm for alloy wheels.
80Nm for steel wheels.

I did not need to use any special tools but if you have rear drive shafts you might need a hub puller.
The new hub came fitted with a new ABS Sensor so did not need to take the old one off.
Hope this helps people in the future if they want to attempt it themselves.

As you've proved Andy, time spent de-rusting threads, applying penetrating fluid, heat and shock is seldom wasted.

I always search around to compare quality and prices on all the parts I need for all the vehicles I have.

The Jaguar Part Number is C2S46771.
The price was £55.00 and the brand was Ridex,there was cheaper ones and dearer ones.
Looked on jaguarlandroverclassic.com but they are out of stock and at a price of £268.00!
I have either sheared or rounded off nuts and bolts because I've dived in with all guns blazing so to speak ,I assess the jobs I undertake more thoroughly now.
Next job on the list for the X-Type is replacing all the brake discs and pads along with new brake fluid and checking the brake pipes for corrosion which I've noticed was an advisory a couple of years ago.
That's after I have dealt with the wifes Nissan Juke Dig-T 4x4 which broke it's timing chain ,have got it all apart,was lucky the valves and pistons did not touch,just need to put it all back together now.I'll try and muster up some enthusiasm from somewhere .
