Replacing front subframe rear mounting bushes 2001 3.0L.

Hello Folks,
Looks like i have to change the rear mounting bushes on the front subframe . Fortunately i've been able to remove the captive bolts. Just wondered if anyone has done this and if it is doable without removing the subframe. On examination it looks as tho the hard part might be removing the old bushes. Any advice will be appreciated. I`ve done loads of wishbone re-bushing using mandrels and a press. Easy enough with parts on the bench.

I`ve dropped a rear S-type subframe to do ARB bushes. Mark the subframe relative to the car with Tipex before you loosen anything off. That way you will get the frame back in the right place!

As regards the subframe bush changes, I imagine they could be done with the frame lowered by using a universal bush changing kit with threaded rods and ball raced revolving thrust washers. However, I foresee a rather difficult job if on hands and knees. Bushes that have seen a long service will often be a pain to extract.

I think I would want the subframe out from under the car and transferred to a bench press for bush changing. The job is never going to be that easy and professional grade tools and a high degree of experience, assistance and strength will perhaps be required. There will also be a fair bit of dismantling required. It won`t be a five minute job.

Many thanx, I've replaced subbframe bushes before but not on the XType. Last time i lowered the frame and burnt the old one and chiseled it out. The new bush pressed in fairly easily by torquing up the mounting bolt. Just wondered if anyone had done this on the XType??.
