Part missing

Hello,
Does anyone have pictures of the underneath of their xtype estate. I have two loose screws just after the plastic undercover protective part ends, should be a picture with this. One screw each size. Any ideas.

There should be a pressed steel strut attached at that point, running back at about 45 deg towards the centre of the car where the other end is attached. One strut on each side.

Mmm, good questions!

First, I'm not sure in my mind that these struts were ever fitted to my previous 2005 X type, though they are to my current 2006 one. The first was a 2.5 and the latter a 3.0 if that makes any (or the) difference. Comment from other X type owners would help here; any offers?

The loose screws that you report would suggest there were, once, struts fitted and it's a fact is that no manufacturer fits that sort of item for fun! So they must give some sort of strengthening benefit. Properly fitted, they have three screws/bolts; one each end and one at about a third of the length.

If the screws are loose, the photo suggests that they could be removed by getting access through the hole blanked off with the rubber plug. I'd be surprised if it then subsequently failed an MoT. A better solution would be to contact one of the specialist Jaguar breakers and get a couple of replacements - they couldn't cost much (surely!). I've used Eurojag with good results, but phone (don't email!) them for instant answers.

I have some question would like some help with please My 2.2 sovereign auto estate 2008 has reached 100,000 mile, does it have a timing chain, if not is it a belt? 2. should I look at getting the auto gearbox oil and filter changed. Have read it is sealed for life?
