Wet roof lining

Hi. I have a 2008 X type estate. Today I noticed the roof lining on the offside in the boot is wet. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know where the water is likely to be coming in. Thanks in advance for any help. Dave

Presumably your car has a sunroof? If so then the most likely cause is a blocked drain tube. I have not seen the sun roof layout on an X type, but it's probably like most other cars with a drain in each corner, so yours would likely have the offside rear one blocked.It is possible for the others to be the cause though; once the water gets over the edge of the sun roof it can go almost anywhere under the roof lining, especially if you park on a slight slope. A length of curtain wire pushed down from the sunroof end is great for cleaning out the drain tubes.

If you don't have a sunroof then it may be getting drawn in around the tailgate seal at the top when the car is on the move.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have a sun roof. I hadn't used the car for a few days so don't think it is getting drawn in whilst driving but you can never tell with water! Could it be getting in where the roof bars are bolted on?
