X type noise. Not sure category for this.

Hi everyone

We've recently acquired an X type 3.0 litre V6.

Its great and we love it but just got one little glitch When we press the foot brake on start up there is a clicking noise which either comes from pedal or maybe toward the centre console.

Isnt always present but mainly from cold in the morning.

Is this the actuator or switch which does this.

We previously had an X type V6 2.0 litre auto , two wheel drive where I couldnt always engage reverse and the gearbox was fine but the switch was replaced?

Is this the same thing - any ideas would be very welcome.

Cheers

Del

Its the inhibit solenoid clicking. This prevents you from moving out of Park unless the footbrake is applied. I don't know of a cure, I just ignore it.
Which part of Devon are you in?

I've updated my profile, but it does not seem to be showing, I am near South Brent, so not too far from you.

Oh great stuff Alan. Perhaps we'll meet at an event soon. I went to Bicton Park last year with the region.

Which Group, presumably Exeter. I tend to go with Tamar, although the two do join forces on occasion. I didn't do Bicton, but I did do The Barbican and will be going to the Roger Young Dealer opening this Sunday in Saltash.
