My 2007 V6 manual has just developed a whining noise at speeds of about 28-32 mph. Car is on 60,000 miles.
I read with great interest John Wright’s article in the December 22 JEC magazine which seems to be on point with the issue I’m experiencing.
I’ve been able to track down the £45 bearing assembly replacement via the online auction site but am struggling to know where to look for the “new paper gaskets for the flanged joints” referred to in the article.
Would be very grateful for any further guidance on part numbers etc for the gaskets.

Hi,
It would seem that SNG Barratt list them in their X-type parts catalogue part number C2S22210 two required. A check on their website lists them as a special order meaning they probably source them from Jaguar. £18.17 inc vat each.
Hope this helps and they are stocked and available.

Thank you- much appreciated

Jaguar_Enthusiast,
When it's a genuine Jaguar part that you're buying, rather than an OEM or aftermarket part, I suggest that you'll be able to get it cheaper from your local Jaguar Dealer rather than from the "pseudo-dealers" such as SNG or Manners who will generally charge full Jaguar price. I usually get 10%+ from my dealer on Jaguar Classic Parts.
Either way, you should always start on the Jaguar Parts website, even if it's just to get the correct part number. See here for the part you're referencing:

Hope that helps,
Paul

Re: Whine at 30mph
Just a note of thank you really. For the responses above to Dave, Paul and especially John Wright for his article in the December 2022 magazine.
I’ve had my car successfully fixed at my local independent garage. I took along the JEC magazine which the technicians referred to as part of the repair, involving the shaft bearing replacement described by John.
If I’d taken the car in and asked them to diagnose the whine from scratch, I’d hope they would get there in the end but am really grateful for the steer through the article as to the likely cause, source of a new bearing and the work involved - probably saved me quite a few £££.
Thanks!
