I replaced the turbo actuator this afternoon (15 minute job). See what that does. As before no other obvious issues of sticking vanes, smoking exhaust or air leaks. Yes I should seek out a better code reader than the ones I have to be certain (or more certain). Maybe as Dave suggests still the better option.

Hi Nick,
I have been contacted by another JEC X-type owner/member who would like to make contact via email / phone as he has a similar fault. If you are happy to make contact email me on xtype@jecmodels.org.uk and I will let you have his contact details.

Hello,
Hopefully you have solved the problem. But I had smiular problems with my 2008 2.2. A Jaguar dealership said It indicated injector failure.

You may well and yet be correct. So far no further issues. Engine runs smoothly which it previously wasn't. Checked mpg against onboard system and it is averaging 37 (V Power which was at £1,99,9 per litre yesterday!). Pulls well under load. Still will just have to see how it goes from no on.
Does remind me of a scenario a few years ago. My wife's 2.5 V6 had any number of faults and issues electrically which Jag Dealership were not able to resolve. despite replacing quite a few expensive parts under warranty. Finally traced back to a fault in the wiring loom where it had chafed on the bulkhead, Some solder and heat shield job done.
