Bicester Celebration 4th July

Postby Dave Eynon » Fri May 28, 2021 11:46 am

We are just over a month away from the JEC/JDC celebration marking the X-types 20th anniversary alongside the E-type, Mk10 and modern XK8 and XK. We have a fairly large display area that I am hoping we will fill with X-types of all variants to celebrate its first significant milestone.
For those who like to go the extra mile with the polish and cleaning there is an opportunity to enter your car in Pride of Ownership competition or, like me, join with everyone in the X-type display area. Unlike the older cars most X-types still remain in regular use and we need to celebrate that and show everyone what great cars they are.

Its finally here after many hours of meetings and work from so many dedicated club members. It promises to be a great day with a considerable amount of X-types on display and taking part in the Pride of Ownership.
I will be on site soon after the gates open and look forward to meeting everyone in person.

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone involved in organising and running the Summer Jaguar Festival at Bicester Heritage. This was the first time I had ever taken my car to be displayed at a car show and everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I felt everything went smoothly and it was great to see that we had such a good turn out of X-Types.

My X-Type is BF08ZTL, an 08 Sport Premium Saloon in Liquid Silver Metallic with Warm Charcoal full-leather interior, 18" Abaco wheels, Premium Sound, CD Changer and Jaguar Voice. I had intended to get the alloys refurbished before the show but was unable to get that booked in in time (turns out there was a four week waiting list). Weather, working full time and of course the Euros have also kind of got in the way.

Nevertheless several people still complimented me on the condition of the car, which was very nice of them! Saw some people taking photos and also some people reading the info sheet I had prepared for it (members who frequent one of the other Jaguar forums as well may have recognised the photo).

Thanks to everyone who took the time to have a chat with me about the car, including our very own X-Type Section Coordinator David Eynon who very kindly agreed to come over and have a look. Apologies if I missed anyone while I was looking around the show.

As for the rest of the show I thought it was really well done under what must have been very tricky circumstances and there were lots of interesting things to see and do, plus of course loads of lovely Jags!

Really enjoyed my time there and would certainly attend another show in the future. Thanks again!

Great day and the weather stayed dry until about 4.30pm which was a real bonus.
Great to meet and talk with fellow owners about our cars and I think we put on a good show. Thankyou to the owners who went the extra mile preparing their cars and entering the Pride of Ownership.
What next for the X-type?
