Love my jags and just bought a 2.2 manual x type. Well and truly had my trousers pulled down on this one, no boost from turbo ,only the drivers door and boot unlock and hasn't got the 12 months mot it was advertised with. Seller has disappeared and I'm feeling the urge to hurt someone  .
Other than that everything is wonderful.

Well I am really pleased to welcome you into X type ownership and hopefully these issues will be easily resolved and the car a joy.
David Marks is our models Technical Expert and can help with getting to the root of the problem quickly and cost effectively. If you wish to share your experience in the magazine it is a great place to ask for advice (If you can wait a few weeks) and sharing the practical side definitely helps to keep these cars on the road. Why not send me some photos with your story and lets have it in the magazine! The X-type is the true model that continued the compact Jaguar lineage after the 420.

Got the doors working now and had the diagnostic on it at work today, many dtc's but think many were caused by a flat battery at some point. All cleared now but still no boost, think it's all sooted up so a good clean is in order. Putting new front shocks and springs on and lower control arms etc. I do like it but didn't really need another project at the moment as I have a buell to sort out , a cagiva v raptor 1000 to cosmetically 're furb, a very rare volvo 850awd that I'm in mid restoration, a 97 land rover county that I'm doing chassis work on and I'd like to do the steering box and core plugs on the 420 too, so another project wasn't in my plans, lol.

The new addition is proving to be a pleasant daily driver, still no boost to speak of , inlet manifold and ports along with egr valve cleaned up, a very time consuming and dirty job which I feel has never been done. Dpf next along with new turbo pipes. Have cleaned and fed the leather and I'm nervously thinking about looking under the cill covers. I know they like to rust there but as the rest of the car is good I'm hoping i don't have to pull the mig out just yet.
Already done around 700 miles in the past two weeks and I'm very pleased other than the lack of boost. Surprised to find when I parked it next to my 420 that it's almost exactly the same length, always considered the x type a small car. Never thought I'd own a diesel much less enjoy owning one but that's where I find myself.
Hope all have had a good Christmas and you have an amazing New year.

A quick update, cills are good with only a little surface rust on the welded seam, running fine now after dpf clean and re fixing the turbo to intercooler hose where it attaches to the cooler, rotten clip to blame resulting in much fowl language and a little less skin on my forearm now. Really getting to like this car now. Front suspension next.
