Hello. I am a returning JEC member from a few years ago and I recently bought an X Type estate 2.0D of 2009 vintage. I'm in the process of eliminating a few faults on the car and I need to purchase a replacement set of wheels which are currently 17".
I see a fair amount of 18" wheels and I wonder if this different size may be compatible. I realise that the reduced side wall depth would make for less side wall flex. It seems that there are more 18" wheels on the market that 17" hence the question.
P.S. she's a lovely car, high mileage at 167,000 miles but lovely to drive and the interior is truly lovely, as all Sovereigns are in my opinion.
Thank you for your time in reading this missive!!!

I have an X type brochure from around the time of your Model Year and it offers a range of 17 in and 18 in wheels. All the 17 in versions have 7J rims and all the 18 in ones have 7.5J rims. Tyre sizes are 225/45R17 and 225/40R18 respectively.
If you use genuine X type wheels, all should be well, but wheels from another model may well have an unsuitable off-set (Distance from centre of rim width to fitting face of wheel. NB may be +ve or -ve)

Hi Astromorg,
Many thanks for your reply! I will look for both sizes and when I get the X Type from the garage I will check the offset.
Many thanks!!

Hi Bob,
Very pleased to hear you are a satisfied X-type owner! Can I invite you to add it to the model register that we are creating. Drop me an email to xtype@jecmodels.org.uk and I will send you the form. Also, if you send a before and after photo when you have sorted the wheels it can go in the mag?

Re: New member has a wheel query.
Hi Dave,
Sorry about the delay in replying to your message.
Just had the bodywork done, and a service, and a new battery.
The poor thing doesn't have any jack etc in the boot, where would be a good place to find these things?
Many thanks.
Also sent you an email, hope you get it.

Re: New member has a wheel query.
Hi Bob,
There are a number of Jaguar car breakers who sell good quality secondhand parts. I always turn to Autoreserve if I am sourcing missing or damaged items that do not need to be brand new. Autoreserve have an excellent website or you can call them on 0115 8372707 or via the website autoreservejaguar.com. There is always good old eBay too!
They currently have a jack in stock and a selection of both 17 and 18" wheels.
I got your email, thanks, and have sent you the registration form.
