Hello everybody - I hope you are all happy and well,
Just wanted to introduce myself - I am Simon, I live in Lytham, on the Fylde coast.

I am the proud owner (or, should I say, will be in a couple of weeks) of a 2001 2.5 V6 AWD auto X-Type, in Silver. Over the years (I'm sixty four years old) I've probably had in excess of fifty cars - ranging from original Minis to a Mercedes 500 SEC and most marques / types in-between. But - this is my first Jaguar! I'm really looking forward to being part of the J.E.C. and I'm sure to be asking advice from you good people in the days to come. I am also more than willing to share my driving experiences with you all. I've owned some very 'tasty' cars and I am always up for a petrolhead chat :D ...

Thank you for reading...

Regards

Simon

Hi Simon,

Welcome to the world of Jaguar and more specifically X-types! My name is David and I am the coordinator for these models. I can be contacted on email xtype@jecmodels.org.uk and will always reply to any mail you send.
If you send me a jpeg photo of your car and your motoring history that has lead to the purchase of this car I would love to include it in the magazine. We have had a real focus on the X-type this year with the club raising the profile of this model as it passes the 20year marker and establishes itself as a modern classic. I am sure you will enjoy the car as much as I do.
Happy Motoring
Dave

Hi Dave - many thanks for your reply. I would love to tell you about my motoring journey. I'm on holiday (Fuerteventura) for the next two weeks, but I will certainly contact you by email when I return - if that's ok with you...
Regards
Simon

Best to use an image host such as https://postimages.org/ ;- it's free and you can do lots more with it than just post on forums.
Congratulations on the X-Type ( a very under rated car in AWD form), and the number of past vehicles; I am always interested in stories from other prolific car buyers. I have just bought my ninetieth (a Marlin). But I may be a lot older than you. 8)

...thanks for the information Phil...

I'm 64...

This is my first Jaguar, amazingly, and I'm smitten already...definitely hooked on Big Cats, now :D ...

I stopped counting the number of cars I've had at 50 - in truth, the total is nearer 60  ...

Cheers

Simon

Yes, I saw that from your earlier post; I'm seven years ahead of you at 71, on my 26th Jag. I can only be reasonably sure of the total numbers of personal cars because a few years ago I responde to these:

...that's a good read, Phil...

I must try and remember my cars - I'll never remember the dates though
