X300 3.2 1995 Exhaust centre section modification

Hello Folks,
Has anyone heard of or carried out a modification to the exhaust centre section between the intermediate silencers and the front pipe. This is the complex dual box assembly which could lend itself to a straight thro pipe modification? I read about a possible mod in a JagMag some time ago. Would welcome any observations..Rgds.. Charlie,

AJ6 engineering used to make straight-through pipes for those sections on XJSs, so may have something similar for X300s. The AJ16 is a very clean engine and perfectly capable of meeting the emissions standard without that centre box. As long you have the upstream lambda sensors, you could probably even remove the downpipe cats themselves and it would still be ok!

And of course it will release more power and sound better with straight through centre pipes.

Thanx for that; that's probably one of the reasons the mod i saw was undertaken and it would in all probability sound better. Thinking of taking that section out and putting in a thro pipe. Rgds..Charlie.

Suggest X-pipe mod as done to my X350.. Delite any H-pipe original fit and go for long flow X-pipe in place of the old H-pipe within the resonator mid section box. Believe me, that will help it pull. Let me look for my images of my job.

You can't run an X-pipe on that straight-6 system. There's no real benefit anyway as it's coming from a single down-pipe collector at the exit of the manifolds. The X-pipe arrangement would only really work on the V12 x-300 engines.

Hello Folks,
Just in the process of removing the exhaust downpipe from the manifold on my 94 XJ6 X300 3.2 and have to disconnect the wiring plugs for the the 2 Lambda sensors. Can anyone advise exactly where the 2 wiring plug connectors are? I can see 2 connectors together just behind the rear of the head but not sure if these are the right ones as the wiring looks different? Intending to weld the downpipe as its cracked~just wondering if anyone has a good one lying on their garage floor? Thanx in anticipation..Charlie.
