Changing front V mount bushes in situation (X300)

Hello all, has any information or any tips on how to change the front cross member v mount bushes. any info on the top wishbone bushes also please. i have a 1997 jaguar X300 thanks in advance

Have done all of the above. Well, actually, I put the subframe back with the original V bushes as they weren't that bad.

Wishbone bushes are a pita. Plan for several hours at a hydraulic press to do them all. British Parts sell a nice suspension refresh kit that includes most of what you need.

Edit to add: You will need a spring compressor to get the wishbones off. The club loan them, but you'll have to get everything out and back in again in short order. I bought one from SPX for about £100.

Yes, on a safety note - DON'T try doing the job without the correct spring compressor. You could end up with some very serious injuries!!

Or you can buy them from SPX for circa £100 (part no 204-111). If you need to rent the spring compressor twice (once to get them off, once to put them back), the it makes sense to buy one.

I had a quick look but can't find the web page any more. Will report back if I dig anything up.

i made my own spring compressor, from 16mm threaded bar, a welded "arrowhead", selection of large washers and two nuts welded together (total cost around £12).
always good to do a test compression, before undoing the spring pan nuts, to make sure it holds.

having seen the genuine compressors though, they do look very solid, and well worth it for £100 if you can buy one.

i have done Vee Mounts one two cars, with the subframe still attached. definitely possible, though i wouldn't call it an easy job. main thing is to make sure one wheel is on the ground and only jack up the one side you are working on. the firs tone i did i had both sides off the ground, as i was completing a full resto, and it was harder this way
