Fuel Starvation on Start Up

My 1995 x300 4.0l has an intermitant problem of fuel starvation on start up.

Sometimes it is fine, but increasingly the car will start then just drops the revs and dies within a couple of seconds.

Luckerly I am on LPG so can start and run on that for now.

We have changed the fuel pump relay, to no effect.

Is it time for a new fuel pump, or are there other candidates?

i would start by changing the filter, it's cheap quick and easy, it may just cure your problem
