Power Fold mirrors vs Memory mirrors

Hi!

I've got power fold mirrors on my x300 Executive and apparently passenger-side one is faulty - it is not folding. I can hear motor rotating but is simply clicks somewhere inside and shakes a bit, but doesn't really fold. I guess some fixture is broken inside.

Anyway I guess I need to get a replacement one and here is a question. When I'm looking on eBay some people state that their mirrors are 'memory' (and some even write it has 9 wires harness) but some go with 5 wires (I don't know if these are memory or not).

Can anyone explain what is the difference between power fold mirror and 'memory' mirror for X300 please?

Finally I would be glad to hear any suggestions about is it possible to repair? or maybe someone has a spare mirror for sale?

Hi Max,

The memory mirrors work in conjuction with the memory seats. You have 3 positions memorized in the control module for 3 different driver positions. This will control seat, steering column and mirror position.
You would need memory control window switch panel and ecu - not just the mirror.
The ratchet mechanism inside the mirror is commonly broken when the mirror unit is moved manually to often - common cause is the mirror being hit bt passing taffic/pedestrians
Replacement is the fix

Thanks very much for this clarification. I didn't think that these XJs had an option with memory seats!

Anyway, how many wires in a harness should a powerfold mirror have? I am asking because some of the sellers state the number of wires, but not if it is a powerfold or not...
