Boot Lock Things

Hello to all on the forum.

I've had to swap my dented boot lid with a good second hand one, and I've swapped the boot lock and latch mechanisms successfully except for connecting the wiring. But the part in the attached picture doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Both the boots came with this part, but all the parts were sitting in a box for years and I've forgotten where this part came from.
Can anyone tell me what it does and where it fits, please?

Since you have said the swap is successful but you have yet to sort the electrics, could the part be the lever to which the remote electric solenoid attaches? Mike.

Hi Mike, and thank you for your reply. I'm not sure, to be honest. The boot locks and unlocks with the key, but not via the key fob remote control. It could be that the fob battery is flat - I haven't used it for years while the car has been sleeping in my garage. I keep it unlocked and with the driver's window down to avoid any lockouts. I'll do a bit more investigating and report back when I have found an answer.

My car doesn't have a remote electric solenoid (I think it'snumber 22 in the screenshot below.

The part I'm asking about doesn't even appear on that JLR Classic Parts exploded diagram for the boot lock mechanism, but must have something to do with the boot lock because one came off the replacement bootlid and another came off my car's boot, but I'm damned if I know where now.

So I'm still none the wiser. But the boot locks and unlocks with the key, so that's a win for now.

Hi Aidan, in respect of receiving a notification to a post, you need to be "Subscribed" to that post to receive notifications. In any topic you are interested in, make sure you click on the little spanner at the bottom of the thread and ensure that you are subscribed.
