my existing chrome which ( as they all are ) is made of inferior ' pot ' metal had started to break out with corrosion on the chrome surface, this not only looked bad to me, but it was rough to the touch and snagged any polishing cloth etc, i got a new old stock one from ebay for about a tenner, two M8 nuts at the back ( easier to access with the numberplate lights removed ) and its off, clean behind, clean up the rubber gasket , and on with the new one with some grease smeared around the mounts , a quick polish up and it looks much better

on my way home from the theatre the other week i got a lamp failure indication, a quick inspection found a numberplate light not working, while replacing both lamps i found the lenses discoloured and one was cracked, and four rusty headed screws, hmm, had to do something about that, so a pair of new lenses, lamps and seals from jaguar for £17 all in , and a few minutes fitting made for a much neater finish , and am very pleased by the lack of rust in this prime area for corrosion
