I have a 1995 x300 4.0 ltr Sovereign and the drivers side rear door mechanism closes and opens perfectly. Unfortunately, the top edge of the door does not pull into the frame fully and sit proud of the front door by 5 mm.
It is hardly noticeable but I find it annoying and wonder if anyone can tell how to adjust the door so that it fits properly? This is my first post so please excuse any omissions etc. Thanks.

Re: X300 rear door adjustment
The window frame is usually separate to the body of the door itself. I've not tried this on a Jaguar, but on cars of yesteryear the simple fix was to roll the window glass right down and then, sitting inside the car, put your foot against the door card at the top and give the top of the open window frame a sharp pull with both hands. Repeat if necessary after checking the door alignment shut line.

Re: X300 rear door adjustment
Thanks for your reply Brian, someone has already successfully done this as the window frame closes and lines up perfectly. My problem is that the top of the door, the rounded section under the window, does not pull in fully, the lower part is fine. Apologies my first post was not clearer on this.
Re: X300 rear door adjustment
Ah, I think I know what you mean now. Does the door top stick out more at the front, the middle or the back? If it's at the front then you can't really change that unless you reposition the door with respect to the hinges. Alternatively it could just mean that it looks wrong because the driver's door is set too far in by comparison and needs its lock striker adjusting. Similarly if it's the rear of the door sticking out this could be needing the lock striker adjusting, If it's in the middle .......there's something wrong with the door skin.

Re: X300 rear door adjustment
Hi Brian
I have checked the door latch and there is no inward adjustment left, it is tight up against the inner door frame.
The front door is fitted perfectly so it isn’t that that causing the problem. Also the rear door in question protrudes exactly the same at its junction with the quarter light as it does with the front door. I think I may have to live with it as I do not feel confident enough in my skill levels to re hang the door. Thank you again for taking the time to reply it is much appreciated.
Regards
Simon

Re: X300 rear door adjustment
Just to provide an update on my problem with alignment of the rear door specifically the waist seal on the driver side rear window.
I noticed the seal started to bow outwards about 12 inches from the junction with the rear quarter light. Decided to lift the whole section off and have a closer look.
Over the years a layer of what looked like calcium had built up inside the rubber seal.
Using a Stanley knife I opened the seal up and remove the build up. This took some time as it was a good 1/4 inch thick.I super glued the rubber back into section so that it fitted neatly into the chrome strip. Refitted and carefully ensured that it all fitted back neatly. Now the strip is completely straight and lines up with the quarter light.
I notice now that my other three windows have the signs of similar build up along the waist length and they are next on my list of things to put right.
