Hello Folks,
The boot push button release on my X300 1995 does'nt work. It opens from the release button on the dash and with the boot key. Can anyone advise what to check. Thanx in anticipation..Charlie.

Hi Charlie,

It might be worth checking the harness that runs along the right-hand boot hinge.
The wiring is known to wear and break without you realising.
I have attached some photos taken from mine - 9 out of thirteen wires were found to be broken and the remaining 4 were damaged!

If this not the problem, you may need to remove the boot lid liner and investigate the actual button/mechanism.

Thanx for that, will investigate. You have to wonder how that could happen? Rgds. Charlie.

Unfortunately it's a common enough problem on X300/308s. I had to do mine twice on the X308 in 10 years of ownership. I did find the repair lasted second time around, when I undid the harness from the various clips on the hinge and inboard end, which allowed the inboard end to 'float' and the cable take up its own preferred path.

Well i just checked mine and found 6 wires broken! So i'm hoping that whe repaired all will work as normal. after that will just let the wires find their own path as suggested. Thanx again..Charlie.
