X300 Stuck in Park

Postby Church1 » Mon Dec 10, 2018 7:23 pm

This hasn't happened yet but.. sometimes the auto gear shift doesn't want to come out of park when I press the brake pedel. Is there a procedure to open up the cover and move the shifter? If this becomes a problem Thankyou Graham Matthews

There is a procedure, you carefully remove the little plastic torx drive in the gear-selector console, and press down to release manually. Unfortunately this usually results in ruination of the console bitty. Best to check the fuse within the rear drivers-side 'kick-panel' at your heel under the rear seat, it's also the cigar-lighter fuse, it blows, if you load-up the cigar lighter with say...... a wee compressor for the tyres, or something heavier than it's designed for. When that fuse blows, the 'interlock' for Park-release is goosed. Try this, and get back to us, it's always important to 'follow-up' on a problem, it allows us to learn the foibles.

Thanks for the info. Peter, I will check the fuse first. At the moment, all is well on the second attempt to get out of park. Hopefully I'm panicking unneccesarily!.. Graham
