David,
Tks for updating us! It is both good news that the car seems ok and somewhat expected IMO. ZF boxes do seem to have a habit of draining back and that can cause some unexpected symptoms when first starting up until valve blocks, torque converters etc are re-primed. I'm sure it's a relief to you that things do seem to be ok for now.
So, although it's good that the car seems to be ok. I'm sure you'll want to to try and ascertain where the leak came from. I suspect you're going to have to try and degrease the box as much as possible to to try and see where the leak may be.
Do please let us know how you get on
Paul

Good news then.
Perhaps some regular use will help keep the cogs well oiled?

Re: Transmission failure 3.2 litre Sovereign
I thought I should follow this up now that a fair bit of time has passed since 'the event'.
Anyway, I have had no further problems with it - and it stopped leaking immediately after the problem and has continued to be leak free. I had it checked out by a specialist - who could find nothing wrong with it. So a one-off and a lucky escape for me there!
