ZF 4-HP-22 Gearbox

Am I correct in assuming that the gearbox in my 1995 XJ6 X300 3.2 Sport is the same as that fitted to a 1995 4.0ltr model? Its just that I have a harsh gearchange on my car and have the offer of a gearbox from the bigger engined model and am wondering if they can be interchanged.

Found out that it will not fit as the bigger spec box is controlled via a microprocessor.
