Engine stalls during warm-up

My car is a 1992 XJ40 3.2 auto. The fault has appeared quite suddenly. She stalled just once immediately after start-up yesterday but then no more problems. But when I went out for a short drive this morning the engine stalled at almost every junction and set of lights. I aborted my planned trip but by the time I got home, after about 20 minutes, the fauly had cleared, presumably because the engine had reached normal running tempertature. She was back to her rock steady 750rpm idle. There were no other symptoms i.e. pick up and acceleration still fine, absolutely no misfiring or hesitation. It appears some component has suddenly given up the ghost. Maybe the coolant temperature sensor? Is this the favourite or are there any other potential culprits?
Many thanks.
Clive.

Fault cured

For other members' benefit I am posting a follow-up as fitting a new coolant temperature sensor has apparently totally cured the problem. Seems too easy but I did read in some trouble shooting notes always to change this sensor first. It only cost £9 and simply screws into the thermostat housing at the front of the engine next to the temperature gauge sender. Change it cold and expect to lose about half a litre of coolant but a doddle really. Possibly simply cleaning the connections might cure the problem but probaby wiser just to fit a new component.
