Flywheel removal

Postby PhilLadds » Fri Jun 19, 2009 5:37 pm

I am converting my XJ6 Series III 4.2 auto to a manual box and need to change the flywheel. Getting the flywheel bolts off is something of a challenge and I guess that I need a special tool to lock or hold the flywheel in place while I put a lot of effort into undoing the bolts. Does anyone know if there is a special tool available or if a universal one (I've seen something from Draper and Sealey) would do the trick. Thanks

Thanks to David Marks now sorted - just bolt one of the bellhousing bolts back into the block then use a pry bar to engage with the teeth and hold it tight.
