Engine Speed and Hot Starting

Postby bossred » Mon Jan 29, 2018 3:52 pm

My 1996 X300 , 3.2 Sport starts fine and tick over around 700 rpm and after a short journey I stop and start again which brings it up to running temperature , but the tickover has now increased to 1300 rpm.
If I then switch off and got eg. a shop , it will not start , but after 10 or more minutes it will start. ANY IDEAS ?? Crank Sensor ? - Throttle Body ??

Hi Chris,

I would suggest looking at the throttle body, especially the TPS sensor (black part under the throttle body). This may be worn and sending false positions to the ECU.

Hi There,
Many thanks for the info , David Marks also suggested that :( and My Mechanic hooked it up to his Computer and it did seem to suggest that so I have got a replacement to try .
I will put a post up if it works , Fingers crossed.

Chris
