Merry Christmas all,
I have started the big job to restore my Jag. My plan is to use many years for the restoration. My next step is to remove the engine from the car. My first question is where are the lifting points for the engine. And is it possible to buy the special tools ?
I hope someone can help me.

Happy new year to you all.

there I a correct engine support beam, sorry I do not have pictures, but dragging it out through the hole is difficult, its a big old bit of kit

when I used to break these cars, I would cut the front slam panel away, that way the access was far greater

This will not work in your case of course

So do it the way it was built, but in reverse, we used to unbolt everything, leaving the engine attached to the sub-frame, hoist the car up in the air and roll the sub-frame, engine and trans out in one, then separate the engine box and sub-frame

Hope this helps

I've managed to find an old picture of an engine being removed from above

This is a V12 , it had to come out that way, as they went in that way!!

Although its a 12, its still essentially the same length as a 6 BIG!!

Always from the bottom. Gives one a chance to renew all the bushes on the suspension as well. Have fun, it's a long job when done properly.
