Alternator connections

Postby cornerstone » Thu Jun 16, 2016 6:38 pm

I have had to replace the alternator on my 1997 xj x300 however in the time between the removal and the refitting i appear to have lost the diagram for the cable connections .
The main terminal is easy to confirm to the thicker cable and the plug in connection is also easy to determine . It is the other thinner cable that i cannot remember . I think one goes to earth ( black) but i am not sure of the small brown cable goes to .
A. Has any one got a photo of the conections ( cannot find on internet)
B. Does the thin brown cable go on the main terminal

Hi jb.

Took these photos off the back of mine (bloody tricky around the water pipes!).

Hope it helps you.

The brown wire going left to right on first photo is the red heatshrink terminal on the second photo.
