Ok, so a whole new problem now.
All of a sudden the car won't tick over at all.
It drives fine but as soon as I lift off it slows down and stalls.
Once it warms up it ticks over at about 500 rpm and will stumble and then stall.

Choked up throttle body or air pipe leak, Steve?

Idle air control valve?
What has to come off the supercharged model to get access to the throttle?
Any gaskets involved?

From the top, everything lol

David Marks was able to do it from the bottom, and I think this is the Jaguar recommend way. His bill didn’t mention gaskets.

Have you checked live fuel trims? It could be a vacuum leak and you would be spared major work.

Going to put a code reader on it this afternoon.
I want to get in and look at the throttle body anyway (have a replacement TPS to fit) and see if there is anything obviously wrong with the cruise control actuator.

I`ve done one of these overhauls, Steve.

Give me a call if you wish and I can give you some idea of what has to occur. My number on the X350 magazine header.

Thanks Mike.
We put the code reader on and it didn't read anything at all!
So I have gone from high tickover, back to normal after replacing CPS and CTS and now no tickover.
Really annoying to say the least but I will persist.
Probably.

Well, we have had a look and it looks like a major pita either way and as it is running nicely now have decided to leave it; I guess that a couple of days under the carport have dried it out a bit.
The new stepper motor can go on the little pile of bits in the 'to fit one day' pile.
Might get around to fitting the replacement bulbs on the odometer one day.
