Re: Help water in the electrics
Ok we can get the car to start for you
take out the star shaped screw in the J gate, insert a small screwdricer, press down, this will release the interlock solenoid, put the selector into N and try and start the car
The fact that the inerlock will not disengage, may be a faulty brake light switch, with the ignition on depress the brake pedal and get an assistant to check the brake light operation
when you have done these two procedures come back and report on progress, we can go from there

Hi Rob thanks for your help released brake and tried to start the car unfortunately the car didn't start, brake lights are also working.
items not working are cetral locking, windscreen wiper, interior lights, indicators except in hazard mode (although indicator lights on dash arn't working) left hand blower.

Re: Help water in the electrics
I keep coming against this "hard re-boot" What is a hard re-boot?
Re: Help water in the electrics
disconnect the battery, walk away, have a cup of tea, come back in 20 mins and reconnect, dumps all the stored fault codes and "resets" the car
Re: Help water in the electrics
Thanks very much. I have done that "hard re-boot" a few times since aquiring my 1996 4.0litre Sovereign. Didn't know that was what I was doing! It came with a tiny battery and was giving all sorts of warning lamps and going flat! Changed the battery - certainly helped. But... looking at another post suggests that it is still too small. I have other issues but am still winding my way through these postings before I start pleading for help!
Re: Help water in the electrics
300 needs the correct size battery, it's a big 'un, same as 308 and XK8's
