Evening all. Could anyone tell me what sorts of user manuals, audio guides, booklets etc. came with X300's when new please? I'd like to get hold of the sorts of things you would find in the glovebox as you drove away from the dealer.
Also, what advice would you give on tracing a car's history? Would it be possible to research a service records if it had been maintained through Jaguar dealerships for instance? Is it impolite to write to former owners to see if they have any paperwork?
Many thanks,
Bob

Re: User Manuals and Booklets...
I have some 300 books and folders here, give me a call
There are a number of ways of tracing the cars history, a Jaguar Heritage Trace will give you the cars "birth" details, when, original spec, original and supplying dealers, original reg etc and maybe even first and second owners, one of mine I have the first three owners listed, jsy depends if as the car changed ownership jaguar were informed and recorded it
a wee tip if you are in Edinburgh, pop into Stratsones, ask for John in the spares dept, give him the last six digits of your vin and ask nicely for a print out of your caf from the DDW system, tell him Mr J sent you!!!
Then you can pay DVLA for a full owner check, allow eight weeks for it to arrive, there is a form to fill in and a reason why you want the info, one of my XJR;s came back with 56 pages from DVLA!!
hope this helps

Great stuff Rob, I'll do that. Will organise another trip down shortly for more bits as it seems I've broken the checkstrap on the driver's door. Had a fraught few minutes trying to get the door closed during the torrential rain earlier! I'm also interested in some replacement wheels as it seems mine are beyond saving, and I wouldn't get the original polished aluminium finish anyway if I had them refurbed.
