boot fitted cd autochanger

just purchased a cd player DBC5130a for a x300 sovereign came with a round plug
can only find a oblong plug 12 pins in the boot ,
do i have the wrong player for my car
any rely would be gratfully received

Typing in dbc5130 in to the jdht website brings up disc player for a series three v12, but your number has an ' a ' suffix which might mean something else intended for x300's which of course doesn't come up on this site,
I'm not sure but i thought early x300's had the round din connector and later ones used a more up to date fibre optic link, i would say you need a more modern player , give your local dealer a ring with your vin no and they will tell you instantly,

ok, depends where your CD changer should go, most 300's have them located under the rear parcel shelf, remove the boot back board/carpet and you should find a lead with an 8 pin din plug on the end of it, this should be located at the right side of the boot

If you have a late 300 (sorry don't know the VIN no) it will be located on the left hand side boot floor, remove the left hand side carpet and again you will find a lead with an 8 pin din plug on the end, this id your cd lead

As I understand the above change came in in late 96 with the intro of the XK8 which uses the same CD changer and radio if standard audio pack was fitted

I have in the past had problems with interchangeability of these CD changers, they all work in XJ40's but some will not work in late X300

thanks for your reply. My car is a very early model x300 sovereign first registered 18/10/94. The VIN number 725536.

you will need a late Xj40 style changer part no DBC 10432 or an early 300 one part no LXF 4160CA (i have these)

These are both Alpine units branded Jaguar

Failing that there is an Alpine on that is a straight plug and play, I have some of these here too

Your car is quite early, but the first 300 was 720001

Hi Rob,

saw in the thread regarding CD Autochangers that you possibly have some units... I am looking for a replacement for my X-300 3.2Sport
VIN: 812084

My car didn't originally have the autochanger but I found that it was fitted with the cable and Din plug for one so I purchased one from Ebay for £90... It worked for about 12 hours all in all and then gave an error code on the head unit and died!!

Took it to a dealership who managed to salvage the CD that had got jammed inside the player, but informed me that the unit was unservicable, which was later verified by a local radio/electrical repairer. I contacted the guy I purchased it from who promised a replacement then promtly changed his contact details and left ebay... go figure!

Thus I am now on the lookout for another unit to hang on the brackets...
Just wondered if you have a compatible unit
