Rusty goes to Scotland
Moderators:robv12, xj40_register, Popsjag
After the success of the Gibraltar rally and cancellation of Bulgaria, Rusty is currently taking part in NC500. This is 500 miles around North Coast of Scotland, it’s another 500 miles to start and500 back home so 1500 in total. Extra weight of Jerrycans, roof rack, spade, pick and luggage are making her work hard over the mountains.

Best day today. Narrow roads, steep hills. Long straights and sweeping bends. This route has everything you could ever want from a road trip. NC500 highly recommend. Rusty has had a full work out.
Tomorrow Fort William to home another 400 miles!

Still going strong, motorway home now after visiting Oban and Inverary. Lots of miles today
Re: Rusty goes to Scotland
Back home 1400miles in 4 days averaged 24mpg. Rusty worked perfectly, climbing narrow mountain passes to blasting down the motorway. NC500 highly recommend.

A nice little trip there.
I am curious, but the external extra equipment just decoration, or have you found a use for them?

Re: Rusty goes to Scotland
I would like to say we needed the exterior equipment:- spade, pick axe, Jerry cans, roof rack & 2nd spare tyre but we didn’t. All the extra gear is fully functional and this Road trip was a test for another trip we might need it for.

Re: Rusty goes to Scotland
So pleased you had a good journey. I live just off the NC500, and have driven it many times over years. The scenery is truely fabulous, and a great time of year to complete the run, away from the summer with all those Campervans and Caravans. I'm retired now, but to keep away the boredom, I do an occassional HGV drive for a local company belonging to a mate, this takes me on the NC500 or parts of it almost weekly. Anyone coming this far North should give me a shout, come and get a cup of tea.
