xjr6 wont start / crank

Ok, so I have a 1996 xjr6 manual that wont start. It hasnt been started in a few years. when I loock the car either with key or fob it opens and locks about 3 or 4 times before locking. Absolutely everything works gauges etc...engine check light comes on and goes out..from what ive read that means immobilser problem......the cooling fan comes on with the ignition...battery is producing 12.38v .......also a wierd thing is that the white wire to the solenoid has a constant live feed wether the ignition is on or off....i thought this would only be live when turning the key to start............engine wonk crank....any ideas people?

I am no way an expert in these areas - but have you checked the crank shaft position sensor - if these fail (I have had 2 genuine parts fail) the engine won't turn over.

solved, via another forum, ECU failure, water ingress, and I met Peter the other day on Jedburgh!!!
