Hi All,
I am looking for advice regarding door/ignition keys for my X300.
I had to use the spare keys on my Daimler Six instead of the set I normally use. I was surprised to find that although the fob opened the car, when I turned the key the starter motor did n`t turn, as if the battery was flat, which it is n`t. The gear interlock operated as usual as I could move the selector out of park and the usual bank of warning lights went out. Using the usual key it started fine. I am told spare keys need to be programmed to the individual car but as electronics are the work of the devil in my opinion any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in anticipation.

Digby,
As you probably know, there's a difference between fob programming and key programming. You can programme the fobs yourself but not the keys.
However, I got Timpsons the keycutting people to programme a new key for my x308 which (I think) uses the same transponder key as the x300. All I had to do was supply them with my original working key and my new uncoded key and they just cloned the programming to the new key.
Sounds like it could be worth a try if you think that somehow the key has "lost" its coding.

Hi Paul,
Many thanks for the very prompt reply and I shall certainly investigate Timpsons. Thanks again.
