P4000 XJ40 Tyres 225 65 ZR15

I currently have old Pirelli Tyres on my XJ40 but they need replacing as they are cracking. I see Longstone offer 2 Tyres a Pirelli & an Avon but are very expensive.

Is there a different 15" Tyre Size I could safely fit to my XJ40 without messing the steering geometry

Any recommendations welcomed.

Those P4000 are VERY old! I wouldn't drive the car with them.

I think it's one of those rare occasions where I would suggest changing wheel size to 16" as fitted to the later XJ40. The tyre options then become much greater and also affordable. As you've found the options for good 225/65 15 tyres is very limited, the Pirelli P5 expensive, and the Avon moutwateringly so!

If you got to 16" wheels, you have the option of Jaguar lattice, grooved 5-spoke, flat 5-spoke, Dimple etc etc. If you put a 225/55 or even 225/60 tyre on it, you'll end up with a broadly similar rolling radius and nicely handling vehicle. The tyre options are considerable and the price much better.

Fitting 235/60/15 is a compromise solution, as there are some more normal priced options out there.

Or 225/60/15 is the next option option. Only a slightly smaller rolling circumference. A compromise solution if you don’t want to spend big money.
