Engine cooling fans

11 and 17 LH engine bay.
They are both 30A.

I’ve done all the checks suggested and replaced the relay under the front bumper to no avail. The fans are still on all the time.
Im not concerned about the fans being on all the time but was concerned about the engine running too cool and the heater not getting hot.
Changed the thermostat and it’s perfect.

Did you look to see if the shorting link was there, so that running full time is doing what they should?

I don’t think it would have much effect on warm up time.
The water in the radiator, being cooled by the fans, isn’t circulating the engine whilst the thermostat is closed. The air going over the block is minimal.

Replaced with another used part? Or new/ refurbished? It’s very common for those relays to stick on all the time, or fail completely. It’s quite possible you fitted a used relay that has the same fault. If you fitted a new part, or are 100% the replacement relay works, you may want to try changing the Thermal switch in the rad. Bottom left. This switch is what triggers the relay to turn on. The thermal switch may have gone to ground.

Fixed it by selling the car.
