After many years of owning and appreciating the marque, I have finally got round to joining the JEC. I grew up around Jaguars and Daimlers, which were also the passion of my late father. I have a small collection of cars including my 1979 S2 Daimler Sovereign , 1967 Daimler V8 250 and finally 1995 X300 4.0 Sport Manual. I am keen to join one of the local clubs and hopefully get myself out to some shows, notwithstanding work and family commitments. I am currently restoring my V8 250 and spend as much time as possible in my garage working on it. I know this is a great community and I look forward to being part of it.

Thanks for the welcome Naki

No, not the one of ebay, mind you seem to have missed that one. I had been looking for the right X300 for a while and came across mine on cars and classics in August last year. I fell in love with it, paid for it and one year later (21st August) I collected it. Unbeknown to me, (until the viewing) the owner was our very own Technical Director Ken Jenkins. An absolute gent, who wanted to get the car spot on before I took it away. Hence the 12 month wait. The car is mint inside and out, unbelievable mechanically and with some fantastic upgrades.... faultless. I am guessing you know of the car?
Ken talked about the rarity and I have tried to do some research but mostly find information about the Xjr manual. I was hoping to seek out other owners or find out a bit more about numbers etc. I was also hoping there was a thread or two on here.
Thanks again for the welcome!!

Hi, ok thats interesting. Yes, i have seen Ken's car featured in the JE Mag and Jaguar World before. I would imagine he has copies of the features, that you can add to the cars history.
Thats great that he was willing to do more work on the car, despite a sale being agreed. A true gent indeed. a rarity these days!

Rob Jenner has had one or two of these in the past and will likely know more about the exact numbers. You can contact him through the club, or he may see this post on here?
I strongly suspect there are less than 10 X300 Sport 4.0 manuals still in existence? There are of course the S/C Manuals, around 30 remaining example apparently, and the XJ6 4.0 Manual.
other manuals? well, the 3.2 Manual was far more common, being less expensive to buy new of course.
No idea how many are less of any of those now. I do not really trust the "HWL" site, though lots of people like to quote it.

Mine is unfortunately no so great condition, and is waiting in the queue for restoration, although i have done bits and pieces on it.
incidentally mine is an Ex Jaguar press car, P889 NRW. there was a fleet of P*** NRW cars used for Press purposes i believe.

its about now that you should post pictures for everyone to see the car again.

It was really good to see another one out there and someone who was in the process of restoring it. Lots of detailed info in the post as well. The information on your reg is really interesting, as I had seen a similar reg in some pics of another car at a seminar. I think it was Rob's Xjr but I might be wrong. Hope you manage to get around to sorting yours!

Indeed yes. the RJ/ Ex Heritage car is in the same reg group. Theres a few others still around too, some on here.

The sad fact is most manuals (other than the supercharged cars), end up broken for spares, as there is demand for the boxes/ manual conversions. The manuals were rare to begin with, but now 20+ years later they are properly rare i think.

Real shame when these cars are sent to be scrapped. Rob came back to me and said that there were just 79 RHD cars built. He now knows of mine, one in Aberdeen, one race car, one low mileage and one that he broke. Pretty much five plus yours makes six thus far!!! With the GDPR regs not much chance of finding out who own others. Needless to say mine is a keeper!!
