The drivers door window on my 96 car has died, luckily with the window up! The auto electrician says the problem is the switch not the motor which I do have.
I have looked on Ebay but currently non are seem to be available. At the time of manufacture Jaguar were owned by Ford so I wondered if this part was common to any Ford models?
Alternatively is there any generic switch which would be compatible electrically? I would obviously prefer to maintain originality but needs must!

Re: X300 Sport drivers door window switch
Graeham,
Before buying anything, I would do two things:
- swap the plug / wires over to the passenger window switch and see if it then works. This will confirm if the problem lies with the drivers switch.
- if the passenger switch works, then I would CAREFULLY take the drivers switch apart. Be aware of any little springs or balls which can fly out! The swicthes can be prone to gumming up and just need a good clean.
Good luck
Paul

Re: X300 Sport drivers door window switch
Thanks Paul for your reply.
I had wondered about cleaning the switch. Years ago I had a Fiat Croma which had the opposite problem. The rear windows would not work due to lack of use and cleaning worked then,
I have spent today trying to get the switch off the door card, but to no avail. It appears to be glued to the card at the front end as well as screw fixed. I was afraid of breaking the plastic.
There also seems to be a vast number of wires going into the plug, so how do I identify which are which?
Thanks for your advice!
