I have the purchase receipt for my X300 in front of me. The N-reg 3.2 Sovereign LWB had a list of £35489, plus:
Air Filtration (£165)
Full Size Spare (£85)
Sports Pack (£306)
Cream Leather (£578)
Metallic Paint (£582)
The grand total, including VAT, Delivery and RFL was £44384. That's a good chunk less than your XJ40!
The chap even managed to get £6000 P/X for his F-reg 3.6 Sovereign.

Re: BEEN AT IT AGAIN!!
ok so here we go as at Jan 1994I know, so at some point I will work out what a Daimler V12 Majestic would have been with all the toys and a full Insignia pack, I would hazard a guess of around 80K
£56200 standard DD6
£1050 8 x 16 lattuce alloy
£100 full size spare
£210 Heated front screen
£50 cup holder
£270 LSD
£645 self leveling suspension
£200 sports pack
£425 passenger seat memory
£245 phone
£260 rear bench seat
£8500 Majestic suplement
£1900 Insignia paint
£3500 Insignia interior
£250, Insignia wood
total £73805, (if I have my sums correct)plus delivery road tax etc
I cannot find a price for the heated rear seat option on the Majestic either, so more cost if you wanted it
now to see if any one actually ordered one!!
Re: BEEN AT IT AGAIN!!
well 35 full Daimler Double Sixes Insignias were built, with the full works, 33 went to Japan and 2 to Belgium, all in 1994 and all late vin numbers 702 an upwards, bar one late 1993 car with a 69 vin, so we can assume that Jaguar needed to shift the unused body shells as X300 was due, spec em up, sell em to Japan and get rid??, none built for the UK market, so I can stop looking, but 28 of the Japanese cars were RHD, so they may well find their way back here as some of the last XJ12 S3's are at the moment
Re: BEEN AT IT AGAIN!!
So why was a long 4.0 XJ40 so much more than a long 3.2 X300?

Re: BEEN AT IT AGAIN!!
well spec, AND 40 LWB shells were bespoke built at Project Aerospace in Coventry, whereas 300 was a Castle Bromwich factory built shell, cheaper per unit to produce
Re: BEEN AT IT AGAIN!!
here's the girls ready to go at the weekend,

and for those who asked, how to you get the new Edinburgh Regions gazebo to a show, stick it on the roof of Uncle Rob's beloved V12 40 and watch the MPG plummet

and then all three on show, new gazebo test driven by the girls on raffle duty

Wow! What a car, and it looks like original showroom condition.

Re: BEEN AT IT AGAIN!!
a quick update on the N reg 4.0
i had the drivers seat re done by my trimmer in Edinburgh
work in progress and finished result
seat base in

back and bottom frame in

all back together and looking good

this is how bad the bolster was, so all this renewed, new foams, new piping

and the temporary seat back in the donor car
