Re: Engine swap
anything is possible if you chuck enough money at it!!
however, XJR rear suspension is beefed up with extra braces and stiffer springs and shocks, the front springs and shocks are stiffer again, XJR rack is different, diff is LSD
you will need a supercharged ECU and then by pass the security built within it, gearbox is different, so my guess is you will need the correct link loom,
thottle actuation and linkage is different, so you will need all of these parts
XJR has traction control
so lots to consider, two other ways to go, by an XJR, or buy a better 4.0 engine!!, however 300 engines rarely give trouble, I have a 3.2 here at the moment 297K miles, still runs like a Swiss watch, plus I have two 4.0 ones for sale, come and whip one out over a weekend and donate to the beer fund and it is yours

Re: Engine swap
Well i think the xjr option is out the window, my timing chains are the main issue on mine rattling etc, so the 4 litre better engine option sounds like a plan, what milage are on yours ? as i think a trip may be required
thanks Rob as always the font of knowledge on these x300's

both 4.0 1996 at 107k and 1997 at 130K
easy to get out, two men , half a day, I have the kit to do it,just need it to stop damn well raining!!
or replace the chains and tensioner on yours, the tensioner can wear and get noisy , but will not cause the carnage the same as on a V8

Re: Engine swap
Thanks rob, can you recommended any good people ? That can change chains etc ? What sort of cost could I expect to pay ?

Will it fit in my 1986 XJSC? Just what I'm looking for.
Just in case you think that I am mad I had an XJR6 a few years ago; utterly fabulous engine, everything else on the road was just dust in the mirrors.
