CD changer cable

I have a 1996 X300 Sovereign and I want to fit an original CD changer in the boot. My car has never had one fitted from the factory but perhaps the cable is hidden somewhere?
Re: CD changer cable
yes the cable will be there already, where though will depend on vin number, most cars will have the cable behind the boot back board, remove this carefully and you will find the cable clipped to the fuel tank, it will have a din connection on the end if it, usually covered by a small rubber boot if the car has never had a CD changer fitted, if the CD has been taken out at some point the cable may well be hanging loose, the changer fits up under the rear parcel shelf, any 40/300 changet will fit and some Alpine units (which is what the Jaguat unit is) will also do the trick, two simple brackets hold the unit in place, I have plenty here if you need one, pm me
on later 300's the changer is in the left hand side of the boot behind the wheel arch mounted in a cage which is hidden by a moulded carpet a la 308, remove the left hand carpet liner and you will find the changer cable clipped to the wheel arch, again the changer is plug and play, but for theese cars you will need the correct mounting cage and correct changer to fit the cage, I have plenty of cages and just one changer here, pm me if you need

Re: CD changer cable
Thanks for the invaluable information. I'll figure out what I've got and get back to You. I guess I'll need the bracket (got one for mounting behind the wheel arch but I guess it is not the correct one for my X300 (it left Browns lane in october 1995).
Re: CD changer cable
my guess is that you will have the wrong bracket you will need the parcel shelf fitting, these are just two small right angle brackets, fitted by 4 x 8mm bolts to the underside of the shelf, and 4 x cross head screws hold the changer to the brackets
