Clive,

I believe that the offical interpretation of fault code P1621 is:

Control Module Long Term Memory Performance/ Immobilizer Code Words Do Not Match

However, I have also seen threads on other websites where owners apparently have had this fault code and have also had a breakdown of one of the ignition coils. Of course, as with any fault code still held in memory, it may not have anything to do with current symptoms on the car.

My suggestion would be to just clear the code and see if it returns together with any concurrent running problems.

Good luck

Try the classic "hard dump" method, Clive.

Disconnect battery for twenty minutes. Have radio code to hand and reset digital clock if fitted.

The disconnect should clear stored codes. If the code comes back, a fault does exist.
