Scraping / grinding noise...

Hi
My XJR has started making a strange grinding / scraping noise, only when going round a right hand bend. I thought this was something scuffing the wheel when it turned, but no, the wheels all turn freely without noise. Listening more carefully, the noise seems to be coming from the back of the car. Does anyone know what this might be? I'm hoping that this isn't the diff...but running out of other options...

Anyone else had something like this?

Hello Pete,
I have had a similar problem with my XJ40 which was the rear brake disc cover catching on the disc and only occured when the car was turning. Did not happen in a straight line. Solution was to use a screwdriver to ease the cover away from the disc. I hope this is as simple for you as I would not have any other idea what the problem may be. Good luck.

Thans for the thought Rodger, I'll investigate this and see if it does the trick... The noise sounds like this could well be the explanation...

Had similar with my X300 recently, turn a corner and noise, sometimes on the straight, but more often on the turn's.
Turns out it was the drivers side rear wheel bearing, the inner one had collapsed!
Thank fully I was only doing short distance at the time, and my man on the spanners soon sorted it, the new bearings cost about £30 + his time to fit.
