German Jaguar meet in Jork, near Hamburg- pictures

JEC member Florian Granzeier holds an annual meet for all Jaguars at his work address in Jork.

Jork is a beautiful apple growing district just outside Hamburg in Northern Germany.
i have always enjoyed Germany, the countryside and the people. so finally this year we made it over to his ever expanding meet. its a fair trek from Devon, but we made it in two days, despite horrendous traffic when passing afew major cities.
approx. 30 jags were present, and a friendly crowd of enthusiasts. i was surprised to see so many black on black cars. apparently quite a common colour combo in germany, despite being very rare in the UK. so i wasn't as exclusive as i normally am!
i won the prize for furthest travelled this time.
the red XJS Cabrio won car of the day

even 5.3 V12 can have engine fires apparently (not just the 6.0!), after talking to the owner.

and why not too. you must make a whole holiday out of it though, as we did. It is a very long way to go in a few days, so well worth heading off elsewhere in Germany/ Netherlands/ Belgium to sample some goodies. Its worth noting how much cheaper alcohol is in these countries than the UK, and how large an XJ40 boot is, haha!
We were lucky with the weather too which always helps everything, as you can see in the pics (in Hamburg anyhow)

Not to mention the high light of the trip, having a drive the of the monstrous Twin Turbo. What a snarling, angry beast of a machine! if you ever get the chance, highly recommended. even with a slushbox! Its like no other 6cyl 40!

the meet, although informal, is very well organised (come on this is Germany!), and everyone was extremely hospital to us.
shame i could get a convoy picture as i was driving, but Pim has some. But the sight of 30 jags going through a sea of Merc and BMW is a sight to be seen!

oh and that B/B XJ81. not a spec of rust! anywhere. i looked, much to the amusement of everyone else who stood back from a distance while i was crawling round all over and under it!

if anyone from the North of England wants to go, i guess a ferry from Newcastle/ Hull would cut off a big chunk of distance.
