1965 S Type Door Removal

Postby m.q.c2612811 » Sun Dec 12, 2021 1:13 pm

Hi, has anyone replaced the door seals on an S Type. I need to remove the rear doors and hesitate to tamper with the Posi Screws, but it seems the easiest way ro remove the door. Just worried about lining up the door after fitting the seals. Any advice/experience welcome

Hello MQC,

during the restoration of my MK2 I found that you need to unbolt the door from the hinges. If you just unscrew the countersunk screws that hold the hinges to the body, the doors will not come off. This means some realignment of the doors on refitting is necessary, but shouldn't be too difficult.

A small investment: I bought a decent screwdriver bit. Pity, this one does not seem to be on ebay anymore but others must be.
