UPRATED HEATER BOX 1966 Jaguar S type

Dears,

I live in Switzerland and want to upgrade my heater box on my beloved 66 S type. I've seen a few suppliers who offer on exchange basis, units that would do the job for me. However I do not want the hassle of sending off my old original unit and waiting for the new. I use the car all year round and you can imagine the need to have a bit of new luxury in this area. Any help or suggestions are all welcome.

Also looking for replacements bulbs for the interior dashboard lights.

Hi, I have not changed my heater box but the ones to discuss with I think are:

after I spoke to several people when I considered this some time ago.
Regarding instrument lighting then I have used http://www.bettercarlighting.co.uk/ and in addition bought some off e-bay but they were just a little big for some reason even though they had the same part number! So just check the sizes. Using LED bulbs certainly helps the look of the instruments.

Hi, forgot to say that some LED bulbs are earth sensitive so make sure you have the right ones, mine were positive earth and there are less of these available.

Dear Paul V,

You kindly way back pointed me in the right direction but I did not pursue this as I put my S-Type up for sale as I'd bought a 1992 XJR 4.0 Sport.
However I have to decided to keep the "old girl" and started this heater project up again, and have made to enquires 1 to Clayton Classics as you suggested and 1 to Jaguar-spares-uk.co.

But I need some guidance and help from somewhere. I asked both if they had a heater box for an S-Type or if a MK2 or V8-250 would also fit. Now these 2 experts both came back with different answers. Both said they do not hold stock on the S-Type and would need my old unit to upgrade. BUT regarding the MK2 and 250 question one said these do not fit and the other said they do.

So who to believe ? At the end of the day I do not wish to take my unit off and send away, as I'M using the old girl everyday (living in Switzerland) having only just got her back. I'm looking to buy an old unit in the UK and sending it to one of them for refurbish. But if A MK2 would fit I could just buy receive and fit and away I go.

My apologies for the long blurb, getting frustrated, and trying to buy a second hand S-type is proving rather difficult.

Any advise and help would be appreciated.

has info and perhaps they could help with your query or how about petebell@ntlworld.com who is the club specialist technical advisor or john.hill@jec.org.uk as another alternative.
Moss Europe (https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-m ... 15513.html) also have some offers on and they may help but it looks like the Mk2 and Daimler are the same so perhaps the S type is the same as the 420?
I have also seen what a company in the States has been doing and there may be some help there https://fairislepress.com/WP/?p=4254. This is a site by Kriss motors and they have a lot of links and info on upgrading etc.

Thanks Paul, for getting back to me, your luck wishes worked problem solved. Summary the expert who said yes vs the expert who said no to the Mk2 vs S-type issue, the yes expert actually supplies the no with his parts. So now have an order with the yes !!!
