heater water supply Mk2

Hi all,
I have just fitted a reconditioned heater unit to my Mk2 and the fan is working perfectly but only blowing cold air.The car has not had a heater for some time and during this time I simply connected the heater water supply to the outlet pipe. Checking the heater water pipes there is no sign of any hot water circulating even when the engine is at steady temperature -the inlet and outlet pipes are cold. I presume i have a flow blockage somewhere but i am not sure how I rectify this.
any ideas please?

When I repaired my heater matrix I had an air blockage which I only managed to get rid of by loosening off the top hose on the heater connection. Later I also found that the internals of my control valve were not working so I had to repace that as well.

Next time I started her up the hot water got through ok and heater is working ok now.
Must have been an airlock that cleared
