Has anybody fitted a front axle from a 420 into a MK2 ? I had my MK2 fitted with the front axle many years ago, I need to change the front springs now and I'm sure that you have to shorten the springs by cutting of the top coil. Any information would be gratefully appreciated

Hello Sgcronin,
I think as this is a rare modification you may not get a definitive answer.
I would suggest that you remove the spring and carefully measure the wire diameter and count the coils. The critical point is getting replacements of exactly the same wire diameter otherwise the coil count will mean nothing.
If your car is too low but the springs are fine otherwise, putting spacers under them should restore the ride height without replacing the springs.

Re: 420 suspension fitted to my MK2
HI Alec
Thanks for your reply, the car at present is fitted with springs supplied by Ken Jenkins and there is little compliance with them and the car sits to high. I am planning to replace the current springs with a set of 420 springs.

Simon
