The more I read up on this, the more confused I get. I bought new rear leaf springs from SNG Barratt, and note that they have no friction pads or buttons between the leaves. Before I install them, can anyone please advise on the best way to treat them./ My restorer has suggested wrapping in Denso tape, others recommend painting, whilst using oil or grease are other recommendations. I have also read, although from non Jaguar sources, about UHMD low friction tape, installed between the leaves of the spring. My concerns are - optimum performance of the spring, absence of squeaks, and longevity.
I would be grateful for any advice, as I need to make a decision as soon as possible

Re: Ensuring longevity of rear springs
Hi lornemalvo
I am sorry I didn’t see this post sooner.
I had terrible trouble with Barrett springs, they could send me two the same length or profile. I too remarked that they had no interleaving and looked poorly made, in the end I bought a set of UK made springs, Barrets were in a Chinese packing case. As for your question I would seriously doubt taking the springs apart and interleaving would make up for the poor design of the spring and you may just be better of greasing or waxoyling them.
I suffered fitting two sets of these before finally getting the decent ones from DMG. No fun when you are doing it all on a jack at home
I hope you have got it sorted now
Regards
Richard
